Police gun down eight bandit suspects in Benue clash

  • The police in Benue State on Saturday shot and killed eight suspected bandits who attacked Akpuna village.

Akpuna village is in the Ukum LGA of the state.

The Police said in a statement on Saturday that they had responded to a distress call and joined forces with other security agencies to confront the militia gang.

“Today 8/7/2023 at about 12pm, a gang of militia invaded Akpuna village, Ukum LGA of Benue state and started shooting randomly,” Channels Television learned.

The police source said they had fought back the bandits who were eventually defeated.

The source added that “8 bodies were found at the scene while many other wounded people were taken to hospital for treatment. The operation is still ongoing in the area.
