President Tinubu To Send Second Batch Of Ministerial Nominees To Senate Today

A reliable source in the Senate has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu will sends the second batch of his ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening on Wednesday (today).

It reports that the president, through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila presented his first batch of ministerial nominees last Thursday to meet the constitutional deadline.

Recall the Gbajabiamila had promised that the President would be sending a second list of about 14 more nominees.

Speaking to The Punch, the Senate source said the names of the second batch of nominees would either come on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning.

The source also disclosed that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today.

By Wednesday, the new set of nominees will be unveiled so that by Monday, we will be through with their screening.

We want to conclude with the screening before we go on our recess. We wouldn’t want a situation where we would go on recess, and we would now start calling lawmakers to back to come for screening,” the source added.

Speaking further, the Senate source noted that the screening of the first 28 nominees will be concluded today so that the next batch can be screened after that.

The Senate had postponed its annual recess to start the screening of nominees on Monday.

The Senate had on Monday screened 14 out of the 28 ministerial nominees earlier submitted by the President, while it screened nine on Tuesday.
